The Ombudsman against Discrimination on grounds of Sexual Orientation has ceased to exist. On 1 January 2009 the Ombudsman was merged with the other Ombudsmen against discrimination into a new body: the Swedish Equality Ombudsman. The previously existing acts against discrimination were also replaced with a new Discrimination Act. Some of the material on this website may therefore be out of date.  Legislation The right to non-discrimination is protected in international law as well as by national Swedish legislation. In this section you will find some such legal texts. Case Law The Office of the Ombudsman compiles brief summaries of national and international court cases relevant to its assignment and its area of responsibility. Data bank on the Internet The CERSGOSIG project has created a data bank concerned with the legal perspectives concerning issues of sexual orientation and gender identity. Independent legal experts from all EU member states provide the data bank with information. |
