The Ombudsman against Discrimination on grounds of Sexual Orientation has ceased to exist. On 1 January 2009 the Ombudsman was merged with the other Ombudsmen against discrimination into a new body: the Swedish Equality Ombudsman. The previously existing acts against discrimination were also replaced with a new Discrimination Act. Some of the material on this website may therefore be out of date. Criminal offence – Police – Prosecutor

A man stated in a complaint to HomO that his brother had been blackmailed as a result of his bisexual orientation. The man alleged that his brother had reported the blackmail to the police on several occasions but that had not led to any results on the part of the police authority or the prosecution office. The man requested HomO’s assistance in safeguarding his brother’s legal rights.

HomO instructed the brother to submit a signed complaint, together with specific information which HomO considered was required to determine further handling of the case. Since no supplementary information was received within the prescribed period, HomO closed the case and decided that no further steps should be taken.
