The Ombudsman against Discrimination on grounds of Sexual Orientation has ceased to exist. On 1 January 2009 the Ombudsman was merged with the other Ombudsmen against discrimination into a new body: the Swedish Equality Ombudsman. The previously existing acts against discrimination were also replaced with a new Discrimination Act. Some of the material on this website may therefore be out of date. Employment – Harassment – Dismissal

An editor with a publishing house complained to the Ombudsman that she had been the victim of sexual orientation related harassment from both colleagues and a senior executive of the publishing house and that she had finally been dismissed. The Ombudsman contacted the editor’s labour union. The union reached an out of court settlement on the editor’s behalf, including int.al. financial compensation. The Ombudsman then closed the file as settled.
