The Ombudsman against Discrimination on grounds of Sexual Orientation has ceased to exist. On 1 January 2009 the Ombudsman was merged with the other Ombudsmen against discrimination into a new body: the Swedish Equality Ombudsman. The previously existing acts against discrimination were also replaced with a new Discrimination Act. Some of the material on this website may therefore be out of date. Employment – Access to Employment A man applied for a job taking care of youngsters with severe personality disorders. Based on his experiences during a hiring interview and the subsequent explanations as to why he was not hired, the man considered that the employer had directly or indirectly based that decision on the fact that he was gay. The Ombudsman, after having investigated the case, came to the conclusion that the allegations were unfounded and therefore closed the case without further action. (Decision 31 May 2005, Dossier no. 352/04) |
