The Ombudsman against Discrimination on grounds of Sexual Orientation has ceased to exist. On 1 January 2009 the Ombudsman was merged with the other Ombudsmen against discrimination into a new body: the Swedish Equality Ombudsman. The previously existing acts against discrimination were also replaced with a new Discrimination Act. Some of the material on this website may therefore be out of date. Employment – Harassment

A gay man working for a taxi company complained to the Ombudsman of sexual orientation harassment in his work place. He had complained to his employer, who had failed to investigate and take action against the harassment. After the Ombudsman had notified the man’s labour union the union negotiated an out of court settlement between the man and his employer. The O. closed the case as settled.
