The Ombudsman against Discrimination on grounds of Sexual Orientation has ceased to exist. On 1 January 2009 the Ombudsman was merged with the other Ombudsmen against discrimination into a new body: the Swedish Equality Ombudsman. The previously existing acts against discrimination were also replaced with a new Discrimination Act. Some of the material on this website may therefore be out of date. For more information, see: www.do.se
University – Students – Harassment A psychology student complained to the Ombudsman that she had suffered harassment from a teacher during a lecture. She had made a complaint to the university and was not satisfied with the actions taken as a result of her complaint. The Ombudsman decided not to take any action since the derogatory statements made about homosexuality had not been directed against the student herself and therefore were not covered by the Equal Treatment of Students at Universities Ac. And also because the university nevertheless had investigated the student’s complaint and taken measures to make sure similar things did not happen again. (Decision 1 July 2005, Dossier no. 3/05) |
