The Ombudsman against Discrimination on grounds of Sexual Orientation has ceased to exist. On 1 January 2009 the Ombudsman was merged with the other Ombudsmen against discrimination into a new body: the Swedish Equality Ombudsman. The previously existing acts against discrimination were also replaced with a new Discrimination Act. Some of the material on this website may therefore be out of date. Criminal Law – Hate Crime – Incitement to HatredA man was accused of publishing on the internet certain messages with a grossly degrading content with reference to on the one hand gay people on the other roma. He was charged with incitement to hatred and was sentenced to 1 month in prison. (District Court of Norrköping, ruling 2 November 2005 in case no B 521-05) |
