The Ombudsman against Discrimination on grounds of Sexual Orientation has ceased to exist. On 1 January 2009 the Ombudsman was merged with the other Ombudsmen against discrimination into a new body: the Swedish Equality Ombudsman. The previously existing acts against discrimination were also replaced with a new Discrimination Act. Some of the material on this website may therefore be out of date. Employment – Dismissal – Harassment

A woman complained that her employer, when finding out about the separation between her and her civil union partner, started interfering in their private affairs in a humiliating way taking sides against her and in favour of her partner, andthat her boss also at one time threatened to dismiss her. After her limited time contract ended she was not offered any renewals. The Ombudsman found that there were no factual circumstances in the case supporting any connection between the woman’s experiences and her sexual orientation and therefore closed the file with no further action.
